In God's Perfect Timing

With overwhelming joy and excitement I share with you how the Lord has been working in my heart over the past year through a process of waiting to return for the fourth time to Ghana, West Africa. This intimate journey I have walked with my Lord and Savior has been one of healing from past brokenness and finding true freedom in Christ. In God’s infinite wisdom and love, He was preparing me through this journey marked with pain and tears for what He would call me to do. The Lord says, “Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails” (Proverbs 19:21). The Lord never wastes our pain, and out of the depth of this pain and brokenness, the Lord has given me a very clear passion! My heart’s passion and prayer for the orphan children in Ghana is for each one to intimately know the transforming love of Jesus Christ and to find their identity in Him alone. This message of Truth is fueled with passion from my own experience of Jesus making me new and walking my own journey of healing and freedom to a place of wholeness in Christ.

“No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him.” (1 Corinthians 2:9) In awe of God’s amazing plan and perfect timing, I am thrilled to share with you the opportunity I have to return to Ghana and be a part of how God is already working through the organization Touch A Life (www.touchalifekids.org). TAL is building a permanent, long-term care center on 10 acres of land in Kumasi, Ghana that will house over 90 children rescued from slavery since 2006. This care center will include housing for the children, a dining facility, and an art therapy center. Eventually TAL would like to have soccer fields, sustainable agriculture areas, and a prayer house. The care center will allow TAL to continue to rescue and rehabilitate children for years to come. One of the main roles I will have at the TAL Care Center is at the art therapy center where I will be able to teach and utilize the process of art in helping the children walk their own journey of healing and freedom in Christ. This is the same process the Lord walked me through in my own sketchbook of drawing Truth and what He is teaching me through the brokenness. I have experienced God’s healing and a deeper intimacy with my Creator through the therapeutic process of art, and that is my desire for the children as well!

I am so thankful for the privilege of living out James 1:27: Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress. Would you prayerfully consider partnering with me to make this ministry possible? In order to go and volunteer with TAL for one year (with the possibility of staying longer, Lord willing), I need to raise $15,000. If you would like to help in this way, a tax-deductible donation can be made to Deer Run Church of Christ with the memo “Jenny Flowers-Ghana.” Checks can be sent to 2730 S. Ironwood Drive, South Bend, IN 46614. Another way to help would be to pray for the children and me. I know there will be challenges and a lot of unknowns living in a new culture, but I want to seek God’s wisdom and guidance in everything (James 1:5). I want to have humility and be willing to learn. I want to pour out God’s love to the children that Jesus has so richly and freely poured into me. I want to rely on God and His glorious strength, and not myself, to make a difference in the lives of these children (Colossians 1:9-11). I want to continually grow and walk this journey of freedom in Christ as I prayerfully walk with the children on their own journey to healing and freedom (Galatians 5:1). If you would please pray about these things for me, I would appreciate it so much.

The TAL Care Center should be built and all the children moved in by June. TAL found a rental property within walking distance of the care center for the TAL volunteers to stay until the housing is built on site. There is a group including Pam Cope, the founder of TAL, traveling to Ghana the first week of August to do a two-week long camp called Art Heals. The first week of the camp will include doctor check-ups and dental cleaning for all the children with the focus on physical healing. Then the second week will include art, music, and dance with the focus on emotional and spiritual healing through the process of creativity. Ultimately, we will be living and speaking Jesus into the lives of the children believing the Lord will bring about complete healing. I would love to raise all my support and begin my year long stay in August with the camp!

Thank you for letting me share my heart with you and share the amazing opportunity I have to join God in this incredible faith adventure!

Faithfully Seeking Christ,

Jenny Flowers
