My Twins

Justy, Emefa, and Comfort...my twins!
When Pam and the team came earlier this month, they brought the girls some cute shirts and socks from Target...little did they know I had brought the same shirt!  The girls were excited to have the shirts that matched me.  Now we are quadruplets!!!!

One of my favorite things to do with the girls is drawing and reading my kids Bible with them before bedtime.  They love to comb and play with my "obruni" (that means white person) hair as I sit and read to them.

All the kids in front of their amazing art center!
The kids are so excited about the art center and cannot wait to be in it!  We have only one working light inside, but I have been teaching art in the evenings after school in the art center.  We set up two dining hall tables and several chairs near the one light and begin art class.  It will be so great in December when the art center will be full of supplies and furniture, but for now it is just great to have art in 3 huge legos!!!

Rock Art

What better way to spend a beautiful sunny Saturday than having some fun painting outside my house with the kids!  I set up a table in front of my house and encouraged the kids to look around our great big campus to find an interesting rock or piece of wood to paint.  The kids had a blast looking for pieces of nature to turn into a creative canvas for a painting.  Humphrey found a large piece of wood while Abigail, Comfort, and Francis found unique rocks to paint bright colors with their names on them.  Anyone who wanted to find something to paint on could and some of the kids even found some left over broken tiles on the ground from construction to use as their canvas.  The kids are super creative and very resourceful.  They had a great time creating their own masterpiece.  Take a look at their creations!!!

A Few of My Favorite Things

    Mary, Benedicta, and Abigail

  • Teiko coming up to me one evening and pulling my face down to hers and kissing me on the cheek goodnight.
  • Sitting on my front porch surrounded by all my children reading my children’s storybook Bible to them.

  • Godfred saying, “The rain beat you,” when I fell in all the slippery mud trying to walk to the girl’s house during the heavy rain and storm.

  • Justiana and Comfort combing my hair while Abigail lays her head in my lap and falls asleep as I talk and tell stories with Mary, Justiana, and Comfort.

  • The children calling me Ma Jenny, Jenny Flower, or Jenny Flowers…Jenny Flowers all the time…but most of all I like Ma Jenny.

  • Creating glass bead Christmas ornaments with the girls while singing praise songs to God…worshiping together through creating art was so beautiful!

  • Learning the local language Twi and trying out my new phrases with the children and adults who all seem to smile and enjoy my efforts.

  • Playing hopscotch with the girls and Ma Paulina, the house mom, in the dirt with a stone.

  • Being surrounded by God’s beautiful creation here in the bush of Africa!

Some of the Beautiful Faces of Ghana

Cornelius is wearing his cool shades!
Church on Sunday morning consists of setting up all our plastic chairs and a wooden bench outside for our 8:30 am worship service.  All the children, houseparents, and I gather together to lift our praises to the heavens.  The children play the drums, sing, clap, and dance in worship to their Creator God!  Some of the songs they sing are in their language Twi (pronounced tree) while other songs are sung in English, Ghana’s official language.  Mr. Morgan the house dad has given a message the past 2 weeks while Garret Nichols, pastor and in country coordinator for Touch A Life, has been in the U.S. recovering from malaria.  He lives here at the TAL Care Center with his wife, Kelly, and son, Seth who is 13 years old.  (They adopted Seth when he was 5 years old.)  It is such a joy gathering together with my Ghanaian brothers and sisters in Christ in worship beneath the beautiful blue sky in the bush of Africa!  These are some of the beautiful faces I get to see everyday!
