Silhouette Project


Over the past few weeks the kids have been working on an autobiographical silhouette.  I traced the children’s profiles onto a large piece of paper and had them brainstorm on a sheet of paper what they would like to include on their silhouette.  I explained how they could use words and drawings to fill their self-portraits with what they like and qualities that define themselves.  I gave them some guiding questions to get them thinking of what they could include like favorite animals, food, subjects in school, and what they want to be in the future.  The kids particularly enjoyed getting their silhouettes traced and seeing their own as well as each other’s profile.  When the kids finished their silhouettes, I had them each come up and share their artwork with the class and tell why they filled their silhouettes with certain words and drawings.
